NMETC - EMT Basic

Traditional EMT Program
Our 165-hour EMT program prepares students interested in pursuing a career in public safety. EMTs are utilized in Police, Fire and EMS. This course will prepare the student to handle emergencies utilizing basic life support skills.

This program covers anatomy and physiology, patient assessment survey and triage, airway management, oxygen therapy, treatment of shock, and bleeding control. We will also cover fractures, spinal injuries, cardiac arrest, and various other medical emergencies. In addition, students will learn automated external defibrillator operation and an introduction to pharmacology.

What makes us different?

The program utilizes a state-of-the-art classroom and lab area, in addition to our unique online course management system. This system allows students access to all handouts, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and podcasts of each live lecture. Podcasts will be posted to our server and accessible online after the conclusion of the live presentation, and can easily be imported to your I Phone, I Touch or MP3 player with video and used as a review of each lecture.

Will you be ready to take care of people?
Our goal is to graduate students who are ready to hit the streets as capable, compassionate, confident providers. Our program goes above and beyond the national standard curriculum and minimum hourly requirement, allowing our students to receive the training and experience needed to be ready for the real world of EMS. Don't accept anything less…come be part of a great program, taught by experienced EMTs and Paramedics.

Students who successfully complete the didactic and practical portions of the course will be eligible for the National Registry exam, as well as the Massachusetts State exam. Students will also be awarded 6 College Credits from the University of Texas.
