NMETC - Distant Online Paramedic Program

NMETC is proud to offer a highly interactive, web-based Paramedic program. This program utilizes the latest technology available to deliver unparalleled paramedic training…all from the comfort of your own computer. For the past three years, a similar program pioneered by Brad Newbury, NMETC’s Paramedic Program Director, paved the way for what has become a highly successful blend of challenging curriculum, experienced instruction, and exceptional skills training opportunities, all taught in a supportive learning environment with proven success at both the state and national level.

Classroom Delivery:
The virtual, or web-based, classroom offers a state-of-the-art approach to deliver an unparalleled paramedic program. All the interactivity of a traditional classroom setting is combined with the flexibility and convenience of an online format, as each student utilizes a headset, complete with noise-cancelling microphone, and signs-in to our virtual classroom through an internet web address for a LIVE, interactive lecture. Our program is compatible with any standard web browser, with no extra software or downloads required. The virtual classroom entails total application sharing…whatever the instructor is showing on his or her computer will be visible to all the students. Lessons include Power Point presentations, audio and video

clips/movies, handouts and a variety of other pertinent documents and visuals. Students will not only view the instructor and the lecture/presentations, they have the ability to interact with him or her, as well as fellow students…ask questions, make comments, and be a part of a technologically-advanced program that accommodates virtually all learning styles.

Unparalleled Features:

One of the most exciting features of this online paramedic program is that each session is recorded, archived, and available for future viewing at a later date. If a student misses a classroom session, they will be required to sign-in and watch the recorded presentation. The recorded class shows EVERYTHING that happens during that session, including all Power Point presentations, conversations from the instructor, any questions or comments from students, and any documents or visuals that were shown by the instructor. This availability also provides students with the opportunity to review past lessons, in part or their entirety…a unique feature not available in a traditional classroom setting. Any student wishing to grasp specific content more effectively or refresh before an exam or hands-on skill session is able to review a lecture for clarification and understanding of content at anytime. In addition, all classes can be converted to a standalone podcast for viewing without internet access, and can be made portable for anyone who wishes to download a lecture for review to their personal computer, IPod, I phone or any MP3 player that has video capability.

Course Management System
Along with the virtual classroom, an entire online course management system will be utilized for each student. Evolve course management system is an Elsevier/Mosby product that is used in conjunction with the Aehlert Paramedic textbook. It will arrive preloaded with all the handouts, extra documents, and links to websites and podcasts that make our online paramedic program possible. All students will complete assignments, quizzes, and exams online utilizing this system…providing a secure medium for evaluating student progress and offering excellent ancillary learning material that comes directly from the author of this widely-respected Paramedic text book.

Skills Training:
Upon completion of the didactic portion of the program, students will be required to travel to our school for skills training. Students will not only be trained in all the National Registry Skills stations, but will be adequately prepared for a multitude of real-world situations through extensive hands-on training and instruction in our state-of-the-art simulation labs…all held in our extensive, 4000 square-foot, Massachusetts training facility.
